Apple Announces New iPhones

Apple has officially announced the iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max.

iPhone 11

  • iPhone 11 has the same 6.1-inch Liquid Retina Display as the iPhone XR, with the same glass and aluminum design, but now with the toughest glass in a smartphone. It features the all-new A13 Bionic with the Apple-designed U1 chip. Available in six new colors: Black, Green, Yellow, Purple, Red and White, it lasts one hour more than iPhone XR.

  • Unlike the XR, the iPhone 11 has a dual camera system with a 12MP wide camera and a 12MP ultra wide camera. It also has a 12MP TrueDepth frontside camera. The back camera supports 4K 60-fps video recording with extended dynamic range, and the all new cameras support next-generation Smart HDR, as well as Night Mode, which produces bright photos in dimly lit environments. The iPhone 11 also introduces what Apple calls "Slofies", which is basically slo-mo front video. The new True Tone flash is now brighter.

  • iPhone 11 also has spatial audio and support for Dolby Atmos. It also has enhanced Face ID, along with faster Gigabit-class LTE and Wi-Fi 6. It also brings improvements to water and dust resistant: IP68 up to 2 meters, an upgrade from the XR's IP67 rating.

  • The iPhone 11 starts at just US$699, a price reduction from last year's $749. You can pre-order it on Apple's website starting at 5am PDT on September 13, and it will be released on September 20.

iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max

  • The iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro has an all new sculpted glass and stainless steel design, and comes in 4 new textured matte finishes: Midnight Green, Space Gray, Silver and Gold. They are equipped with 5.8-inch and 6.5-inch Super Retina XDR displays, which support 1200 nits of peak brightness and a 2,000,000:1 contrast ratio, but at the same time being 15% more energy efficient.

  • Same as the iPhone 11, the 11 Pro and Pro Max features the new A13 Bionic chip with the Apple-designed U1 chip. It lasts 4 hours more than iPhone Xs, and is capable of fast charging. The 18W power adapter now comes in the box, replacing the slow 5W charger. It also has an improved water and dust resistant rating: IP68 up to 4 meters, up from 2 meters last year. Other new features include: enhanced Face ID, spatial audio, Gigabit-class LTE and Wi-Fi 6.

  • The iPhone 11 Pro and Pro Max now comes with a triple camera system, with 12MP wide, telephoto and ultra wide cameras. It supports 4K 60-fps video recording with extended dynamic range, as well Night Mode, Slofies, next-generation Smart HDR, as well as the brighter True Tone flash.

  • The iPhone 11 Pro starts at US$999, while the Pro Max starts at US$1099. You can pre-order them starting at 5am PDT on September 13, and they will be released on September 20.
